Tiny Audio Module Enables High Performance for Hearables

USound’s next generation acoustic applications takes the audio experience to the next level.

The technological advancements are introducing scalability to an extent that could lead us to the very heights of the sky. The development of transistors led us to the development of more compact computer models. Similarly the introduction of these Micro-Electro-Mechanical systems(MEMs) based hearable could exceed the limits of audio performance with its application.

USound has announced the release of its ultra compact audio module that can enhance the performance of TWS and OTC hearing aids. The device uses a type of electronic filter known as physical frequency crossover technology with a sound chamber and pipe structures.

The audio module is available in two versions : a two-way audio system and a full-range ultra-compact audio module. The two way audio system consists of a MEMs speaker developed in-house by the company itself from the Conamara series as a tweeter and an electrodynamic speaker as a woofer.

The device is based on the concept of peizoelectricity. Here crystals are used to convert mechanical energy into electrical energy. Peizo actuators replace the traditional coil present in the regular audio systems allowing the device to be as thin as 1mm.

Features

  • Shock Resistant
  • Various electronic elements can be directly embedded into the substrate.
  • Extended bandwidth allows HD and ultrasound applications.
  • Produce accurate and clear sound
  • High power efficiency
  • Low vibrations
  • Light weight

Manufacturers can easily integrate the module in earphones by changing the venting volume to achieve a different sound experience. The application of this technology with the provided scalability makes this a possible boon to the audio industry.
