What is Text Wrap?

In Microsoft Excel, when the text is too long it will appear on multiple lines. This will happen within the cell and the data will not change. When the text data is long, it will look incomplete. Without wrap text, there will be no line break characters inserted.

Wrap text will automatically adjust the row height to fit all the text. This feature will enable you to have an easy view and provide a neat and professional spreadsheet. Text wrap can be done in multiple ways.

Wrap Text from Ribbon

Wrap text from ribbons is the most easiest and common way of adjusting the width of the cells. it will automatically adjust the height of the rows so that the text can fit inside the cell. Follow these steps for the same.

Step 1: Select the cell/cells for applying wrap text.

Step 2: Click on the Home tab.

Step 3: Click on the option “Wrap Text” on the section Alignment.

Wrap Text Using Keyboard Shortcut

By using a keyboard shortcut, you will be able to format the cell in a quick time. Here is how you can do it.

Step 1: Select the cells to apply wrap text on your worksheet.

Step 2: Press “Alt + H + W.

If you are looking to wrap text in the entire worksheet, press “CTRL + A” and apply the keyboard shortcut of “Alt + H + W.”

Wrap Text Using Format Cells Dialog Box

In MS Excel, the format cells box has all the options for formatting a cell. This also includes the wrap text function. You will have to follow these steps for applying wrap text.

Wrap Text Using Manually Add Line Breaks

Step 1: Put the cursor and double-click it in the cell to enter the line break. You can also use the keyboard shortcut F2.

Step 2: Press Alt + Enter.

Delete Wrap Text

Select the Homescreen tab ➜ click on the command Wrap text.

From the Format Cells menu, uncheck the option Wrap text.

On your keyboard press “Alt + H + W

Follow these steps to remove added line breaks manually.

Step 1: Press “Control + H” to replace the dialog box.

Step 2: In the section Find what, Press “Control + J.”

Step 3: Click on the button “Replace All.
