A reference design from Renesas helps automotive manufacturers create Qi 1.3-certified in-cabin wireless charging stations. The P9261-3C-CRBv2 is a second-generation Automotive Customer Reference Design (P9261-3C-CRBv2 EVK) that complies with the WPC Qi 1.3 standard EPP (Extended Power Profile) for 15-W charging. It also supports proprietary charging profiles and is capable of 50-W fast charging.
The offering includes the P9261 automotive-qualified wireless power controller and MP-A13 three-coil array as the wireless power transmitter. A Renesas RH850 automotive MCU serves as the host controller and enables the system to provide functional safety features that comply with Automotive Safety Integrity Level B (ASIL B).
GUI-based software allows real-time control and monitoring of the reference board. It provides numerical readouts of key parameters, such as the selected coil, transmitter status, input voltage, buck output current, transmit power, and bridge voltage. The GUI also enables programming changes, firmware updates, and the tuning of customer-specific variables related to hardware design, such as settings for foreign object detection.
